Manurewa is seven distinct pockets and the appraisal has to reflect that. Wattle Downs and Weymouth tend to sit higher, especially the streets that back onto the inlet. The Manurewa High School zone pulls a school-zone premium that adds real money to family-home appraisals. Clendon Park has been on a steady upward run since the train station improvements, and parts of Manukau Heights cross over into Manurewa pricing depending on which side of the boundary you sit. Manurewa's centre is Great South Road, where Southmall is the main shopping centre. Wikipedia's history has the station opening in 1875 and the suburb growing in the 1950s and 1960s. Auckland Council lists the Auckland Botanic Gardens, which host about a million visits a year, a large aquatic centre, and the Manu Tukutuku community and sports facility on Randwick Park. Nathan Homestead, built in 1925, is a heritage arts centre near the Southern Motorway, and Tōtara Park beside the Botanic Gardens has 216 hectares of bush walks, bridle trails and mountain bike tracks. Manurewa Library is at 7 Hill Road.

Manurewa Station has buses 33 and 365 at its stops, and Homai and Te Māhia are the neighbouring stations on AT's list. Bus 33 runs at high frequency between Papakura Interchange and Ōtāhuhu Station via Great South Road, and bus 365 runs hourly between Papakura and Manukau Bus Station via Porchester Road. The Auckland Botanic Gardens are beside the Southern Motorway, off the Hill Road exit (451), and bus 366 runs from the Manurewa bus interchange to the Gardens.
